What You’ll Need to Build an eCommerce with wordpress
Domain and Hosting:
To create an e-online store with WordPress first, you’re going to need a domain name and hosting.
A domain name is what someone types into their browser to find your site and hosting is where your website lives.
If you already have a domain name, skip this step. Otherwise, go to Namecheap, Hostinger or Hostgator and purchase a.com domain name for $9/year. If you want to use the a.net domain name, you’ll pay $15/year. Choose a.com address if you’re targeting U.S. audiences.
If you’re looking for an affordable, high-performing web hosting plan, I suggest Hostinger. Check out the Hostinger WordPress Starter plan.
Installing WordPress:
Next, you’ll need to install WordPress. WordPress is a CMS (Content Management System) that makes it easy to create and edit content.
To install WordPress, visit WordPress.org and click the Download button. After downloading the latest version of WordPress, unzip the file and upload the contents to your server.
Read the documentation that comes with your hosting package to determine how to access your cPanel.
WordPress & WordPress Theme:
WordPress themes are very easy to use. They are not difficult to install either. In fact, you don’t need to know any programming languages to install and use WordPress themes.
They offer lots of options that enable you to make your website look unique. You can design your own theme with ease and use it for your store.
You can also get WooCommerce themes from the ThemeForest marketplace. Most of these themes will offer great customer support.
It is good to have a look at the reviews left by previous users of a theme. These reviews will give you a clue about how the theme functions.
Installing WordPress Theme:
In general, most themes follow these conventions:
- To change the look of your WordPress site, visit the administration menu and click on Appearance > Themes.
- Just hit the “Add New” button to start customizing your site with new themes.
- You can do so in one of two ways from this page.
- Look in the Theme directory if you already know the name of the theme you wish to use.
- You can narrow down your options if you don’t know the specific name of the theme you want to use by checking the appropriate categories and then clicking the Apply Filter button.
